Upcoming Library Training

University Libraries is hosting several training sessions this week:

Statistical Insight Database Workshop
Tuesday (3/27) from 10-11 AM in Bizzell, room 149D

This hour-long workshop will show you how to use the ProQuest Statistical Insight Database to gain fast and easy access to statistical information produced by U.S. Federal agencies, states, private organizations, and major intergovernmental organizations. Users can search through vast tables with the advanced Search Tables functionality – the shortcut to finding statistics online. Presented by Sarah J. Palmer, Information Professional Consultant, ProQuest Government Information Services.

Legislative Insight Database Workshop
Tuesday (3/27) from 2-3 PM in Bizzell, room 149D

This hour-long workshop will show you how to use the ProQuest Legislative Insight Database of Congressional legislative histories. The legislative histories are comprised of fully searchable PDFs of full-text publications generated in the course of congressional lawmaking. These include the full text of the Public Law itself, all versions of related bills, law-specific Congressional Record excerpts, committee hearings, reports, and prints. Legislative histories may be used to discover the legislative intent behind a specific law, as well as offering insight into laws of general interest to political science, history students, as well as to students preparing for careers in public health, education, business, or any other discipline subject to Federal regulation. Presented by Sarah J. Palmer, Information Professional Consultant, ProQuest Government Information Services.

Manage Citations with Zotero
Friday (3/30) from 3-4 PM in Bizzell, room 149D

Zotero, a Firefox add-on, is a free, easy-to-use, and remarkably flexible citation management tool. Zotero is the only research tool that automatically “senses” content, allowing you to add it to your personal library with a single click. This one-hour session will give you the basics so that you can start searching, saving, and organizing on your own.
