Apple Unveils iPhone 6, Among Other Products

Recap of Apple Event in Cupertino

iPhone 6 Photos

On Tuesday, September 9th, Apple made several announcements at an event in Cupertino, California. While the main announcement was in regard to the new iPhone 6, there will also be a new iOS in addition to a brand-new product called AppleWatch. The new iPhone will likely cause the most excitement to Apple users, the iOS update has many interesting features as well.

Flagship Product – iPhone 6

The iPhone 6 will include several new features for Apple users. For starters, the iPhone 6 will have larger screen sizes than previous models, with the screen measuring 4.7 inches. Additionally, there are changes in capacity options. Apple has omitted the 32 gigabyte iPhone and added an iPhone 6 with 128 gigabytes of capacity. Other capacity choices include 16 gigabytes and 64 gigabytes of storage.

The iPhone 6 will also introduce something entirely new to users–ApplePay. This feature will allow users to make purchases with their credit cards directly from their iPhones. Users will simply swipe their phone at a supported retailer to make purchases. ApplePay will be available in every Apple store, in addition to retailers such as Macy’s, Whole Foods and McDonald’s.

Apple also introduced the iPhone 6 Plus, which has the same functionality and features as the iPhone 6, but has a different form. Instead of a 4.7-inch screen, the iPhone 6 Plus has a 5.5-inch screen and a higher resolution. The iPhone 6 Plus has some of the visual qualities of an iPad.

iOS 8 – Newest Update to the iOS

The newest iOS update was released on September 17th. It included several updates, such as continuity improvements, better predictive texting, changes to notifications and iMessage improvements. The new continuity feature is possibly the most interesting part of the software update. It actually allows users to link all of their Apple devices as long as they are connected to the same iCloud account. Not only will this allow users to access the same photos across their devices, but it will let them begin an email on one device, and complete the same email on another device. Additionally, if a user has a tab open on his or her iPhone, he or she may simply open that same tab on his or her iPad or Apple computer. And, once OS X Yosemite releases, users will have the ability to make calls or texts to any phone directly from their computers.

One More Thing…

Apple also announced a new product — AppleWatch. This device combines notifications and a personal communications platform with advanced biometric data pulled directly from the wearer.

In conjunction with the HealthKit application in the iOS 8, this new product will allow users the ability to track their health while keeping in touch.
