When creating new grade items in Desire2Learn, OU IT has noticed a D2L glitch that causes the entire grade book to become inaccessible. This glitch is caused by creating a bonus item in a category that is set to evenly distribute.

If a new bonus item is created in an evenly distributed category, the grades will become inaccessible by all instructors, students, and OU D2L administrators. To restore access, OU D2L administrators must escalate the problem to D2L support for resolution. Due to this extra step, resolution of this issue typically takes 2-3 business days. We understand the impact this could have, especially at this point in the semester, and want to ensure that access to your grade book is not lost.

If the issue does occur, please call 405-325-HELP as soon as possible so that we are able to escalate the issue. It is important to note that this issue will not corrupt or delete any grade items or values. Please take extra care when creating new grade items and contact the OU IT Help Desk with any questions that you may have. To ensure the issue does not occur, do not mark new grade items as bonus; instead – save the item, edit to mark as bonus, then re-save.
