One Day. One Community. One Difference.
The Event: Please join us for the first annual One U Cup on November 14th and 15th! The One U Cup is a new event designed to bring value to OU students, faculty and staff, and the greater Oklahoma community through the utilization and creation of innovative technology. Each year, a different college will call the challenge and name the technology to be used in that challenge.
The Challenge: This year, teams will collaborate with Microsoft Engineers to design a new app on the Windows Platform. The challenge will be to design a working prototype that will allow OU students to easily connect with each other and/or with organizations on campus. Teams will have Friday night to brainstorm, bounce ideas off their mentors and hear from Microsoft Engineers. Specific design requirements will be also presented. Saturday will be a full day of coding, prototyping and working closely with Microsoft and faculty and staff mentors to put ideas into action with final presentations given at the close of the event.
The Details: The event will take place in the new Helmerich Collaborative Learning Center in Bizzell Library from 6pm to 10pm on Friday, November 14th and from 8am to 5pm on Saturday, November 15th. Meals will be provided for participants and the winning team will not only win Dell Tablets but also have their names engraved on the One U Cup! The winning team will be decided by a panel from the local business community.
Students can sign up individually and be placed into a team or teams can sign up as a group. Faculty and staff interested in participating can also register to be mentors for the individual teams. This event is completely FREE for OU faculty, staff and students.
