University Libraries Hires Research Data Specialist

The University Libraries is pleased to announce the hiring of Dr. Mark Laufersweiler. Mark will serve as University Libraries’ first Research Data Specialist.  Dr. Mark Laufersweiler

In this role, Mark with strengthen the University’s capacity to secure highly competitive grant funding, contribute to the development a of long-term data management infrastructure, assist faculty in the discovery of relevant existing data sets and other information, serve on grant teams for externally funded projects and engage in research and professional activity at the national and international level.  This newly created position positions University Libraries to better support campus research initiatives as aspired to in our latest strategic plan, New Horizons for OU Libraries.

Mark will split his time each week working both in Bizzell Memorial Library and also at the Research Campus of the University of Oklahoma.

Mark comes to University Libraries from the School of Meteorology at the University of Oklahoma.  Prior to his work there, he served in a wide variety of positions in several universities related to technology, research and research data.
